When it comes to painting your walls there are two sides of the aisle: trendy and classic. Accent walls, stripes, bold colors, and wall paper can be beautiful today, but might not be beautiful tomorrow. For paint colors that really stand the test of time, it’s time to go neutrals.

Whites, greys, creams are the best way to create a home that will look classic and beautiful for decades. They can be pairs with bold furniture, bright fixtures, and dark appliances to really make a space pop. They go with every style, color, and season and can put up with endless redesigns over the years. There really is no competition that neutrals are the way to go in home paint colors.

So now what? What neutrals? Grey? Cream? Tan? And what the heck is greige? The endless palates of neutrals can be overwhelming, so we’ve narrowed it down for you to the 5 classic colors that are neutral and will look great in every room in your home.

Classic Grey

by Benjamin Moore. This color has been around forever, and for good reason. It is the perfect grey that is so light, it’s almost white. It looks perfect in a two-tone room, but beautiful on it’s own as well.paint-1

Beige.

This is Halo, by Benjamin Moore and is a great choice for Greige, which is a grey and beige mix with a hint of green. It looks great against white molding and gives the room a bright and fresh look that is on the warm side, if you’re not sold on the cool color of grey.paint-2

Whites.

Who knew that white was more than just white? There are about 412 colors of white in any given brand of paint. In the Benjamin Moore line, we love the Decorator’s White for walls. If you’re looking for a true white, this is the way to go.paint-3paint-3-1

Cream

If you have dark wood floors, or beautiful cabinetry, go with a paint that is more cream than grey. It gives a beautiful pairing with warm or cooler tones.  Cream has changed over the years but has always been the most popular of the classic colors. paint-4

Blush

This paint is Trianon by Ralph Lauren and while it’s not anywhere near bubblegum pink, it does give a fleeting blush color and makes big dark furniture stand out beautifully. It has longevity and style at the same time.
