Gray has been taking a major role in home decor coloring for several years and the classic neutral is here to stay.  Why? Because gray has amazing powers.

It softens black, warms white and gives contrast to other neutrals.  It can be both modern and traditional, farm house or beach bungalow.  The palette of grays is so vast that there is a gray for any kitchen project.  Just take a look at these fabulous gray and white kitchens.

This kitchen retains its clean, white main cabinets but adds a striking deep silver gray center island for contrast and interest.  The flooring brings in gray hardwood as well as the silvery granite countertop.  Totally classic, totally gorgeous.gw-1

This kitchen sports all white cabinetry, but brings a variegated gray into the subway tile backsplash and charcoal tile floor.  The light gray granite countertops and stainless steel appliances and hardware pull even more gray into the space while retaining the clean feel of the cabinets.  I love the pop of green, too.gw-2

Want to go all gray on the cabinets?  This kitchen combines two shades of gray, the darker steely shade on top and the lighter pewter on the bottom and the island.  This might be too much for some kitchens but the effusive windows lighten the entire space beautifully.  I also love how the yellow and green liven up the room.gw-3

This beautiful French Country kitchen uses dove gray in the granite countertop and brick back splash but the star is the dramatic whale gray pantry wall.  And those light fixtures!gw-4

Not all gray and white kitchens mix it up with the cabinetry.  In this kitchen, they have used a taupy gray for the cushions in the bunkette and the wall above the white beadboard.  With the pop of yellow pillows and luscious hardwood flooring, this corner is warm and inviting.gw-5

Subway tiles from head to toe.  Well, at least to countertop.  These fabulous gray tiles add a modern touch to a farm country kitchen.  gw-6

Not all grays are silvery.  This beautiful kitchen uses a blue-gray tile and rich wood flooring to maintain the crisp, clean white country style.  gw-7

I like the way this designer has kept the upper cabinets white, giving a lighter, airier feel, and gone darker gray with the base cabinets for a more substantial grounding.  I love the chevron backsplash, blending the two.  Notice, too, that the hardware and lighting is a brushed gold.  Gray doesn’t require a nickel or iron look.  gw-8

This kitchen has used a very warm taupe-gray paint on the cabinets which gives a softer look than some of the more stark grays.  The white tile backsplash with a soft gray grout adds to the clean and sophisticated look of the room.  gw-9

Incredible Old World charm is found in this gorgeous kitchen with strong architectural details. The misty gray upper cabinets with glass doors lighten the whale gray island.  The granite and tile materials wrap this entire kitchen in gray where white accents are key.gw-10

This ultra-sleek, modern kitchen boasts deep charcoal gray cabinets that graciously soften a room where black would be too bold.  The peppercorn countertop and minimalist hardware keep it edgy.gw-11

Not all gray and white kitchens stick to a solid painted surface.  These gorgeous cabinets use a gray paint and black glazing for this unique blended finish.  If it is a new home, or a kitchen remodel, I hope these images gave you plenty of inspiration on you!  gw-12
